Tiêu chuẩn ASTMD1894 specifies using thin plastic films or sheeting, typically cut to 250 mm x 130 mm for the base and approximately 120 mm x 120 mm for the sled, with a maximum thickness of 0.254 mm.

ASTM D1894 Test Process

The test uses a coefficient of friction tester, where a sled covered with film is pulled across a film-coated surface at a constant speed. Forces are measured to calculate static (force to start motion) and kinetic (force during motion) coefficients​.
