DIN 53369

Testing of plastic films; determination of the shrinking stress

Test Materials

DIN 53369 specifies the testing of heat-shrinkable films, often used in packaging and similar applications. Samples are typically cut to standardized dimensions (e.g., 130 mm × 15 mm) to ensure uniformity during testing.

Test Process

The sample is heated to a predefined temperature (up to 210°C) to simulate heat shrinkage conditions. During the process, the system measures key parameters such as shrinkage force, contracting force, and shrinkage ratio. Once heated, the sample is cooled, and the system records the changes in real-time for analysis.

Test Result Interpretation

Results are expressed in terms of shrinkage force, contracting force, and shrinkage ratio. These values indicate the material’s response to heat, crucial for assessing its performance in applications like packaging. Higher precision measurements enhance the reliability of the data.
