TAPPI T815
Coefficient of static friction (slide angle) of packaging and packaging materials (including shipping sack papers, corrugated and solid fiberboard) (inclined plane method)
TAPPI T815 Test Materials
TAPPI T815 is used to measure the static coefficient of friction (COF) for materials like paper and packaging films. It requires a flat sample and a standardized sled, ensuring accurate and consistent results.
TAPPI T815 Test Process
The material is placed on an adjustable inclined plane. A sled is positioned on the material surface, and the plane is gradually tilted until the sled begins to slide. The angle at which movement starts is recorded and used to calculate the static COF, following TAPPI T815 standards.
TAPPI T815 Test Result Interpretation
The slide angle determines the static COF, which reflects the frictional resistance of the material. A higher COF indicates greater resistance, crucial for assessing product performance in packaging or handling applications.
